PROJECT

WATERiD

This research presents a methodology for developing a national database for water infrastructure system which includes both drinking water, wastewater, and storm water.

PIPEiD

The overall objective of this research is to deliver a Web-based GIS-driven platform called PIPEiD. The platform is envisioned to be “a Living Database Platform for Advanced Asset Management”.

Wastewater Pipeline Predictive Modeling

The deterioration modeling task for the wastewater pipeline infrastructure will consist of three major components: 1) development of advanced mathematical model, 2) evaluation and validation of the proposed model, and 3) piloting of the prosed model at 12 geographically distributed wastewater utilities across the nation

Water Utility Energy Benchmarking

The project goal is to see how energy is being used in drinking water utilities. Step-wise regression analysis and other statistical methods are used to evaluate how individual plan configuration, load, and operational factor can be linked and affect to the energy use.

Storm Water Pipeline Asset Management

The objective of this research is to develop a condition rating system for the storm water pipelines. Condition rating is a crucial aspect of any asset management program. Presently, no standardized condition rating system exists for storm water systems. Click here for more information.

Sustainability and Resiliency Modeling

Many utility asset management programs have been developed following the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) core definition of maintaining a level of service at the lowest life cycle cost. Most utilities, however, only incorporate performance measures into their asset management plans. A holistic approach to asset management is more beneficial because it takes into account the short and long term goals of the utility and can provide better service socially, economically, and environmentally.
